The corrugated side walls with perforated outer edges provide the perfect growing environment for air pruned roots. Usually in a round pot the roots grow in a swirled direction whereas with the root prune pots, the roots grow through the holes making contact with the outside air. This naturally stunts the growth of the roots which sends a signal to the plant to grow more roots from the centre of the plant.
