Dirt pots are a fabric pot designed to stop root circling and create an incredibly dense root system through air pruning.
Air pruning occurs when a root tip reaches the edge of the pot and dies off as a result of being exposed to light, air and no moisture. This causes secondary roots to branch out from behind the dead root tip. This principal works in the same way as if you were to top a plant; several branches will grow in place of the single top shoot.Dirt pots not only help to create dense root systems but are also easy to wash (in the washing machine) and fold down for compact storage between crops. Perfect for growers who like to cultivate many plants in individual pots. There are also four sets of loops on the outside of the pot designed to house supporting stakes, meaning you don’t need to stab them through the plant’s root system to secure them.Dirt pots can be used with any potting medium and can be used in conjunction with a Wilma system or any other top feeding automated watering system.
