Keeping the nutrient rich water in the reservoir within the specified temperature range with grow heaters and properly supplying it to the plants by using grow pumps are the two key factors in hydroponic gardening. When either of these factors is not properly maintained then the absorption of important nutrients by the plants will be compromised. That could result in stunted growth or even death of the plants.

It is important that the hydroponic water pumps and the water feed lines be regularly checked to be sure that there are no clogs or leaks. The ability of growing pumps to maintain the proper water flow is also dependant on the reservoir being regularly cleaned. If the plants are still not growing well, even if the hydroponic pumps are functioning properly, then the temperature of the water solution might be too low or two high. Automated hydroponic water heaters can be set to regulate the temperature.
