Variety Of Hydroponics Systems

There are actually five basic types of hydroponic growing systems and they vary mainly by the way that the nutrient solution is distributed to the plants. The Deep Water Culture hydroponic system has the plants floating on top of the solution so that the root system is always wet.

The NFT grow system is similar to this because the roots remain wet, but in this system a shallow stream of the solution flows along the roots in a row of plants. The flood and drain systems are exactly as they sound. The nutrient solution is flooded over the plants and then the excess is drained away.

Another hydroponic grow system, aeroponics, simply mists the dangling roots of the plants with the nutrient solution every few minutes, while the drip hydroponic systems have drip lines that run to the base of each individual plant. Certain plants do better with different hydroponics systems and it is best to do a little research so that the plants can develop to their full potential.
